Americans lulled to sleep by scandal
The sad effect of a scandal du jour is anesthetic. The American public has been droned to sleep. Take the month of June:
A vet is scheduled for a medical appointment - after his death.
Five top terrorist leaders traded for one of our soldiers who at worst cavorted with the Taliban and who at best suffers from mental illness.
A Marine who takes a wrong turn is put behind bars while thousands walk across our borders.
An audit-crazed IRS that demands of taxpayers years of supporting documentation conveniently can't find incriminating emails. And the IRS is slated to manage the paperwork of Obamacare? Go figure. Take the Obama-Kerry seminar on diplomatic rhetoric while ISIS buries murdered Iraqis in Nazi-like mass graves.
So we're all on scandal overload. Another day, another scandal. Which scandal will make the headlines tomorrow? Who cares? But when a gallon of gas hits $5, watch the sleeping giant wake up.
