Senior activities abound at the Schaumburg Park District

Seniors have more opportunities than ever to get involved and have fun through the Schaumburg Park District.

With summer in full swing, so are senior summer activities. A variety of seasonal day trips, overnight trips and luncheons occur year-round at the Senior Center, located at 505 N. Springinsguth Road.

"You are never too old to make new friends and being part of the Senior Center is a great way to meet new people and make new friends," said Lisa Perrone, Senior Center supervisor. "Our seniors are adventurous and excited to try new experiences. They want to be active, get out and stay busy."

There are plenty of options to enjoy at the Senior Center, including card games, day trips, luncheons and socializing. Daily activities include billiards, table tennis and bocce. Special trips include casinos, lunch outings and theatrical productions.

Upcoming events include:

• July 23 - Senior Bingo at a White Sox game: This day will feature an afternoon of playing bingo and watching the White Sox play ball.

• July 25 - Let's Do Lunch Again (Sabatino's): Enjoy a food aventure and great conversation at Sabatino's Restaurant.

• July 27 - Hank Williams/Lost Highway and Lunch: Follow the life and career of Hank Williams with an unforgettable tribute of more than 20 hits, including I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, Move It on Over, Hey, Good Lookin' and Jambalaya. Lunch at Hackney's is included.

• Aug. 2 - Brigadoon at the Goodman Theater and Lunch: When American tourists Tommy and Jeff get lost on vacation in Scotland they stumble into Brigadoon, a mythical village that appears for only one day every 100 years. When Tommy falls for a village girl, he is forced to choose between returning to the world that he knows or taking a chance on life and love in the mysterious Brigadoon. Includes dinner at Elephant & Castle.

• Aug. 27 - Donny and Marie: They are coming back! This is your chance to see Donny and Marie live at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora where you're never farther than 102 feet from these Superstars. Early dinner at Ballydoyle's.
