Iraq involvement boils down to politics

After Eric Cantor's quarreling constituents threw him out for arrogance and inattention, Republican leaders have been screaming and running in circles, weeping and wailing and gnashing their colleagues on national TV, demanding that President Obama support some faction or another in Iraq to improve our image abroad. Obama's dilemma is, of course, which among the mutually hateful and warring groups should we support or bomb? And why, oh why, did we ever leave?

Why? Because on July 20, 2013, Obama stood idly by and let Dick Cheney (in the guise of George W. Bush) sign an agreement to exit by a certain date. Otherwise the entire 5,000-year-old Middle East fiasco could be blamed on the Democrats. Talk about lost opportunities!
