Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Awards 38 Scholarships to Local Students
This year marks the 35th consecutive year in which the Auxiliary of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital awards scholarships to local students working towards a degree in a health-related field. Thirty-eight scholarship recipients were selected to receive funds for their college education. As of today, a total of $637,185 has proudly been awarded to 611 students. The 2014 recipients are:

All scholarships were funded by the Auxiliary with five exceptions:
• During Nurses Week the nursing staff raised special funds for two scholarships in memory of Good Shepherd Hospital Nurse, Diane Shogren. They were awarded to Maggie Munson and Victoria Melavic.
• The Carol Freitag Scholarship, in memory of Good Shepherd Hospital Nurse Carol Freitag, was awarded to Kylee Rose Verseman.
• A second Carol Freitag scholarship in honor of Sue Pearson RN was awarded to Alyssa Derer.
• Nurses Week honoree, Courtney Huellen, in honor of allied health professionals.
"The Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital is extremely proud to award these scholarships to such hardworking and deserving students," said Betty Kilgore chair of the scholarship committee. "We are excited to see them accomplish great things and make a difference in many people's lives as they enter the world of healthcare."
