We are targeting the rich unfairly

Let me make it very clear that I am not, never have been and never will be rich. But I find it interesting that there seems to be a vendetta against rich people, and I don't understand it other than possible jealousy.

I realize that there are rich people who have lied, cheated and stolen to get rich, and I do not defend them, but there are also many people who got rich through hard work and sacrifice on their part. Since this is America, one of the few countries in which that can happen, I don't understand this attack on all rich people.

One thing I find interesting, though, is that some rich people (athletes, movie stars, congressmen and women, etc.) don't seem to incur the wrath of being rich that entrepreneurs do. Why?

I also find it hard to believe the exempt group are truly paying their fair share of taxes. I would love for some industrious media person to delve into how much tax that group pays.

My husband and I are retired, and if the cost of living keeps going up like it is now I see us in the future having to move out of our paid for home of 48 years. Our income does not nearly go up at the current rate of inflation.

Instead of just attacking rich people to pay more and more taxes, I think it's time for our government to quit overspending and giving out unnecessary handouts. It seems that anybody who works hard and earns money is being penalized so our government can just keep spending and spending. Pretty soon even the hardworking people will catch on and quit working. What will happen to our wonderful country then?
