Mt. Prospect a better village because of Clark

Not many people stay in one career for 37 years, but Sandy Clark did, as forester for Mount Prospect for all those years right after receiving her forestry degree from Michigan State.

She was a pioneer and leader in her field during a time when women did not embark on such careers.

I was at Michigan State a number of years later and she was already a legend there for her innovative programs and research she conducted while forester in Mount Prospect. Sandy Clark's policies, practices and research during her tenure set standards across the nation with other cities looking to improve their forestry programs. She lectured on the national stage and was a go-to resource for other urban foresters from around the country.

Mount Prospect likely never knew the "urban forestry celebrity" they claimed as their own. Sandy was that humble.

The urban forest she helped build in Mount Prospect will be there for generations to come and not many people can leave such a legacy on a community like Sandy Clark.

Congratulations to an urban forester who contributed so much to the lives of so many through trees.
