'The Testing' author coming to Bloomingdale

With the recent popularity of dystopian movies and novels such as "Divergent" and "The Hunger Games," Bloomingdale Public Library is catching the craze by playing host to young adult author Joelle Charbonneau, author of "The Testing" trilogy.

"Both adult and teen readers have been devouring young adult series with futuristic, dark themes," said Jessica Frazier, Bloomingdale's young adult librarian. "Fans are super excited to meet Joelle, especially since she'll be releasing the final book in her series very soon."

Set in the aftermath of a devastating future world war, "The Testing" trilogy follows Cia Vale, a determined young woman who must overcome the government's grueling testing process.

Charbonneau visits from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the library, 101 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale. During her author visit, Charbonneau will discuss writing the series and answer audience questions, which will be followed by a book signing, refreshments and craft.

The event is open to all ages, and registration is required by phone at (630) 924-2730 or online at mybpl.org.
