Barrington student video bids fond farewell to superintendent/video star

Tom Leonard, the longtime superintendent of Barrington Area Unit School District 220, received a fond farewell during his last appearance in a BHS-TV video promoted in his final e-newsletter Thursday.

The video, "I'll Be Seeing You," shows clips from Leonard's scene-stealing appearances in past BHS-TV videos, such as competing in a gingerbread house making contest, searching for his abducted bobblehead and determining when is the right time to declare a snow day.

Amid the clips, Leonard is shown preparing to take the reigns at his new superintendent job in Austin, Texas. He laces up his cowboy boots, puts on a white cowboy hat and drives off into the sunset in a convertible festooned with steer horns, bringing along his adorable dog Josie for the ride.

The video is accompanied by the Willie Nelson song of the same name, who Leonard referred to as "his new neighbor," in his newsletter.

Leonard spent 13 years in the district, the first six as principal of Barrington High School and the rest as superintendent. He's leaving for the top job at Eanes Independent School District.
