Man's honesty brightens day

Your readers need to know about the honesty and goodness of people. Today, my wife, Lynne, and I met at the Schaumburg Home Depot. We drove in separate vehicles. She purchased a bag of finch food and I purchased some screening for our gazebo. I made my purchase and left Home Depot. Soon after, I got a call from Lynne: "Henry, are you still at Home Depot? I left my purse in the shopping cart." I said, "No, but I will go back and ask if anyone found it."

All the time we prayed that an honest person would find it and turn it in. My dear wife of 55 years showed up in the Home Depot parking lot. We asked many people, "Did you find a purse?"

With no success in finding it, I traveled to my home in Schaumburg and parked my van. Soon after, my wife pulled into the driveway. Just then, a man parked his car in front of our home. The honest man walked to Lynne and said, "I found this purse in a shopping cart at the Home Depot."

She thinks our prayers were answered. She accepted her purse from the man, thanked him and gave him a hug. She offered the man $40, and the man said, "No, thank you. I would want to be treated the same way if it happened to me."

All we know is the man's name is Vince from Streamwood. Vince, for my dear wife, I want from the bottom of my heart to say thank you for your goodwill and honesty. I nominate you as my representative to Springfield. Springfield and the world need more men like you.
