Help clean up during National Trails Day

In recognition of National Trails Day, the Palatine Park District Environmental Committee is hosting a community cleanup of the Palatine Trail from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7. Both individuals and community groups are invited to volunteer to help clean up debris on the trail in and around Tom T. Hamilton Reservoir.

Volunteers should wear work gloves, comfortable closed-toed shoes, and long pants. Parking will be available in the north lot at Hamilton, 1037 N. Smith St., Palatine.

Both individuals and groups are welcome to attend. Giveaways, water and snacks will be provided. To volunteer, contact Christine Rice at crice@palatineparks.org or (847) 496-6223.

American Hiking Society's National Trails Day (NTD) is a celebration of America's magnificent trail system, occurring annually on the first Saturday in June. NTD features a series of outdoor activities designed to promote and celebrate the importance of trails in the United States.

Individuals, clubs and organizations from around the country host National Trails Day events to share their love of trails with friends, family and their communities.

The mission of Palatine Park District is to provide a variety of safe, enjoyable and affordable parks and recreation facilities and activities that will enhance the quality of life by promoting good health and well-being for all residents and visitors of the Palatine Park District.
