Probation for Des Plaines woman in credit card theft

A 52-year-old Des Plaines woman who worked as an office manager for a condo association admitted misusing the assocation's credit card and was sentenced to probation, court records show.

Barbara Duelfer, who worked at Ballard Point in unincorporated Des Plaines from March 2011 to March 2013, pleaded guilty on Friday to continuing a financial crimes enterprise and was sentenced to 30 months probation. She was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution and $799 in fines, court records show.

Cook County Sheriff's police began their investigation in April 2013, after representatives from the Ballard Point Condominium Association notified them about irregularities in the association's credit card statement.

Duelfer used the credit card for about a year for personal purchases, including purses, jewelry, gym shoes and gift cards, police said.
