'Home Sewn' at Des Plaines center's Collectors Evening

Stop in the Des Plaines History Center and be a part of its first Collectors Evening program. This event will take be from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the History Center, 781 Pearson St. Registration is not required.

The first session is titled "Home Sewn," and the public is invited to drop in to view some homemade clothes in the History Center's collection. Guests are encouraged to bring their own home-sewn heirlooms or a recent project to share with everyone.

History Center Curator Philip Mohr looks forward to launching this program.

"Some items in the collections never make it into exhibits," he said, "and this is a great opportunity to see some of those hidden treasures. This is also a great opportunity to share your family's history without donating it to the museum."

Mohr added that the public is welcome to post a photo of any of their home-sewn items on desplainesmemory.org.

Collectors Evening will occur every third month on a Thursday evening. For information, call (847) 391-5399.
