Schaumburg Boomers host business community

The defending Frontier League-champion Schaumburg Boomers hosted the Schaumburg Business Association's monthly "Good Morning, Schaumburg" event Tuesday at Boomers Stadium.

The morning's keynote speaker was longtime Schaumburg resident Jack Smith, who oversees 17 Country Financial offices in Cook and DuPage counties from his own headquarters at Schaumburg and Barrington roads.

The SBA also honored the village of Schaumburg's recent Volunteer of the Year award recipients in adult, youth and organization categories.

The hosting Schaumburg Boomers will begin their new season on Friday, May 23, when they play the Florence Freedom at 6:30 p.m. at Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.

The first 3,000 fans will receive championship pennants before the players receive their championship rings and the stadium raises the Frontier League Championship Flag.

After the game, the Jesse White Tumblers will make their first appearance at Boomers Stadium, and the night will be capped off with the season's first postgame fireworks display.
