Marquardt increase cruel to taxpayers

Jake Griffin writes "Who raised property taxes?" (April 30).

I know! I know! My local school Marquardt District 15 managed to slip a real big one behind our backs.

This year they increased 14 percent from $2,900 to $3,300. In this slow growth economy and lower house values, this is cruel to the property owner. A $400 increase would be one month's less groceries for me.

Shame on you, District 15 members.
