Behind a 3-hit performance with 8 strikeouts and a walk from Pat Maloney, the Redhawks (16-8, 11-2) maintain a two-game lead atop the DuPage Valley Conference standings. Bobby McMillen homered while Jason Wegner and Luke Daley went 2-for-3. Jim Krippinger went 2-for-3 and Matt Albin took the loss for Glenbard North (14-9).
Lisle 10, Luther North 0:
Alec Van Volkenburg pitched a no-hitter with a strikeout and 2 walks in the five-inning nonconference win for the Lions (15-10). Ryan Joyce went 3-for-3 while George Swedie, Kevin Coppin and Cliff Krause went 2-for-2 with a combined 5 runs scored and 6 RBI.
Naperville North 8, Glenbard East 7:
Mark Khoury, who drove in 4 runs, and Mike Laurenzo, who went 3-for-4, homered for the Huskies (10-11, 5-8) in their DuPage Valley Conference victory. Joe Ritchie went 3-for-4 while John Allen and Joey Moore had 2 hits for Glenbard East (10-15, 3-10).
Lake Park 7, WW South 6:
After sending the game to extra innings with a 3-run seventh inning, the Lancers (9-11, 5-7) pulled out the DuPage Valley Conference victory with a run in the top of the eighth. Anthony Gallina went 3-for-4 with a homer and 4 RBI. Colin Fowich went 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Eric Giltz and Justin Kelly had 2 hits and 2 RBI for WW South (10-8, 8-5).
Wheaton North 8, West Aurora 6:
The Falcons (13-9, 9-4) scored once in the seventh to push the DuPage Valley Conference game to extra innings, and then won it with 2 runs in the eighth. Jacob Taschetta, Greg Scandora, Greg Sells, Zach Leander, Mike Muto and Jason Szumski had 2 hits. Sam Lawrence picked up the win in relief.
St. Francis 9, Walther Christian 6:
The Spartans (16-8, 8-3) broke open the Suburban Christian Conference game with a 7-run second inning. Will Purdom went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Zach Prociuk and Christian Kuzemka had 2 hits while Brett Whelton drove in 2 runs. Michael O'Keefe was the winning pitcher.
Waubonsie Valley 13, Bartlett 5:
Ben Vietri went 3-for-4 with a homer and 4 RBI as the Warriors (17-5, 13-2) swept in the Upstate Eight Conference. Luke Marzano and Garret Howicz each added 3 hits and combined for 5 RBI. Brandon Petersen was the complete-game winning pitcher.
Addison Trail 17, Proviso West 9:
Frank Amato went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI for the Blazers (6-17) in the West Suburban Conference crossover. Joe Kurucar, Joe Amato and Eric Gilliam had 3 hits. Winning pitcher Christian Grabowski struck out eight.
Downers South 10, Glenbard West 8:
Winning pitcher Ryan Taylor went 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI for the Mustangs (16-4) in the West Suburban Conference crossover victory. Danny Oriente doubled twice and Joey Engel had 2 hits. Luke Domask went 3-for-5 and Billy Becker homered for Glenbard West (14-10).
Downers North 13, Willowbrook 0:
The Trojans (14-9) claimed the West Suburban Conference crossover in six innings behind a 5-RBI game from Matt Bohanon. Joe Provenzano went 3-for-4 while Patrick Geraghty and Brendan Shanahan added 2 RBI. Winning pitcher Brett Pyburn allowed only 2 hits. Tyler Vavrek and Jake Cady had them for Willowbrook (14-7).
Metea Valley 15, East Aurora 1:
The Mustangs (15-8, 11-5) blasted 18 hits en route to the Upstate Eight Conference sweep. Derek Kirchner went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and Jack Szott homered. Sam Hanson went 3-for-3. Jacob Petersen picked up the 5-inning win after striking out seven and walking none.
Montini 10, St. Edward 0:
The Broncos (16-3, 11-2) scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the Suburban Christian Conference game. Austin Kline went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI while Jake Pestel and Tom Long had 2 hits. Winning pitcher Tyler Quick allowed only 2 hits.
South Elgin 3, Neuqua Valley 1:
The Wildcats (12-12, 11-8) scored their run on a Josh Piotrowski home run in the Upstate Eight Conference loss. Alex Wolanski went 2-for-3 with a double. Andy Sommers took the loss despite allowing only 4 hits.
York 9, Hinsdale South 3:
A 6-run second inning powered the Dukes (13-11) to the West Suburban Conference crossover win. Kyle Coughlin and Anthony Santos each drove in 2 runs. Seth Dvorak went 3-for-4. Joey Oehmen went 2-for-3 for Hinsdale South (9-12).
