The latest statistics show that new jobs created total 288,000, dropping the jobless rate to a much-improved 6.3 percent. "Aha!" say the Republicans. "But there are thousands who have dropped out of the job hunt, who have been unemployed for so long they are not even looking anymore. They just feel hopeless!" "Aha!" say the Democrats. "Let's not forget about them!

Dick Durbin has introduced the Community College to Career Fund Act, which features training in advanced manufacturing, health care, information technology and clean energy implementation. It's also why Congressman Brad Schneider has introduced the America Works Act, which creates a set of credentials which is both recognized by American manufacturing industries and also nationally portable -- a normative list of necessary skills workers can carry with them from job to job.
