Mt. Prospect dog park memberships for sale

Memberships for the new dog park at Melas Park in Mount Prospect are on sale at Central Community Center, 1000 W. Central Road, Mount Prospect and Friendship Park Conservatory, 395 W. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines.

Annual cost for a membership will be $50 for the first dog and $25 for each additional dog (within the same household) up to three dogs. Each household purchasing a membership will receive a collapsible water bowl (while supplies last) courtesy of Dog Play Day Care in Mount Prospect. Members will also be automatically entered into a raffle to win free dog food for six months thanks to sponsor Corner Barkery in Arlington Heights.

Proof of current license and up-to-date vaccinations will be required for each dog. Upon fee payment, members will be issued a key fob allowing entry to the gated park. Dog park applications and regulations governing the park can be found at www.mppd.org.

A grand opening of Canine Commons is planned for June 21. Additional details will be forthcoming.

Canine Commons, located at 1500 W. Central Road in Mount Prospect, is a joint venture between Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights park districts.
