Palatine Library District accepting food for fines

The Palatine Public Library District will accept food donations from patrons as a way to pay down library fines until the end of May, according to the district's website.

The program, called "Food for Fines," allows anyone who pays half of their outstanding balance to pay for the second half by donating a can or jar of food.

"This program will help patrons clear up their accounts and give back to the community at the same time," according to the district.

All of the collected food will be donated to the Palatine Township Food Pantry.
