Elgin man charged with sexual assault

An Elgin man faces charges of criminal sexual assault of a 25-year-old woman with whom he was staying at a motel in Woodstock, police said.

Woodstock police responded to a disturbance at about 10 a.m. Sunday at the Super 8 Motel at 1220 Davis Road. Upon arrival, the 25-year-old woman told officers she had been sexually assaulted, police said.

The man she accused was later identified as Timothy E. Levis, 54, of Elgin, who had fled the area before police arrived. Officers found Levis shortly after walking in the nearby Willow Brooke Apartment Complex parking lot and detained him, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and evaluation.

Woodstock detectives met with and interviewed the victim.

The victim had met Levis at a Des Plaines area establishment days before the assault and accompanied Levis to his motel room Saturday afternoon, police said.

Sometime during the night and early morning hours, Levis sexually assaulted the woman, police said.

Motel management received complaints of loud arguing coming from Levis' rented motel room, so management met with Levis and the woman and noted suspicious behavior, which prompted them to call police, police said.

Levis is charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault, a class 1 felony. A McHenry County judge set bond at $100,000, of which he must post 10 percent to be released. Levis remains at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility.
