Elgin water director to speak with Eagle Heights group

The Eagle Heights Residents Association will host its quarterly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Elgin Community Church, 991 Deborah Ave.

The speaker for the evening will be Kyla Jacobsen, water director for Elgin. She will discuss how we receive water and what has to take place in order for it to be purified to the highest standards. Join them to find out many other aspects of the Elgin Water Department.

• This year's neighborhood garage sale will be May 16-17. If you don't want to have one yourself, why not join in with a neighbor.

• On Saturday, July 26, Eagle Heights will be having its annual picnic from noon to 4 p.m. at Wing Park again this year. It will be held under the first pavilion that you see when you turn off Wing Street. There, you can enjoy all of the same amenities as before. The Eagle Heights Residents Association will provide the main course and beverages. Bring a dish to pass.

• The association is looking for volunteers to help with the planting of flowers along Royal Boulevard and in Eagle Heights Park one weekend morning in May. The date has yet to be determined. The association will supply the flowers and gloves; volunteers provide green thumbs. To volunteer, please contact Dennis Toren, Beautification Director, at (847) 697-3821 or dtoren@wideopenwest.com

•This year's spring Tyler Creek cleanup is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 7. They are in need of volunteers to help with cleaning out debris that has accumulated in Tyler Creek. They will meet at 9 a.m. and finish around noon. Lunch is provided by the association. The cleanup is an effort to keep the stream flowing smoothly to avoid flooding in the community.
