Palatine man arrested after drug sting
A Palatine man is facing charges after he tried to sell drugs to an undercover police officer, authorities said Thursday.
Palatine police said they set up a sting about 7 p.m. Wednesday on the 1000 block of West Lake-Cook Road in Arlington Heights, where an undercover officer was approached by Keith D. Williams, who was later found to be in possession of heroin and marijuana.
Williams, of the 1300 block of Turtle Creek Drive, previously sold heroin to an undercover officer March 18, according to a police news release.
During Wednesday's sting, police said, Williams approached the undercover vehicle, at which point officers identified themselves and tried to place Williams under arrest. Williams fled but was later caught, the release stated.
Williams was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance and resisting a police officer.
A judge set bond Thursday at $100,000, though Williams remained in custody because he is on parole for a previous conviction. He is due in court again April 25.
