Lindenhurst residents with lakeshore property rights can participate in a planting program designed to prevent erosion and filter unwanted nutrients and pollutants that run into lakes. Plant buffer strips can help mitigate unwanted algae blooms. Eligible residents can be reimbursed half of their expenditures up to $100 on a first-come, first-served basis.
