Palatine Park District presents 'Reptomania'

Palatine Park District presents Reptomania, Reptiles and Amphibians on the Road, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 24, at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

Do you think snakes are slimy or that you get warts from touching a toad? The Science Alliance will dispel those myths with their newest presentation, "Reptomania!" Everyone knows what frogs and snakes and lizards are, but what makes them similar and yet very different?

Steve Schindler, the Science Alliance's expert on all things reptilian, will introduce you to huge toads and frogs, colorful snakes and exotic skinks, and a monitor lizard. Kids will learn about how different adaptations allow the animals to live in specific habitats and what interesting physical modifications they are capable of to protect themselves from predators.

Schindler is an expert handler, and the animals in these live demonstrations are humanely housed and cared for.

Tickets are $6 per person and are available through the Cutting Hall Box Office, located at 150 E. Wood St., Palatine. Tickets can also be purchased by phone, (847) 202-5222, or online at www.cuttinghall.org. Online convenience fees apply.
