Streamwood fire department to hold citizen's academy

The Streamwood Fire Department is taking applications for its citizen's fire academy, an eight-week course that gives students the ins and outs on firefighting.

Residents can learn about how firefighter-paramedics provide emergency medical treatment, process hazardous materials and extricate drivers from cars.

Classes will run from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays from March 31 to May 19. Applications are available at the fire department or online. Class sizes are limited. The deadline to register is March 14.

For details, contact Chief Chris Clark at (630) 736-3650 or by email at cclark@streamwood.org.
