Kaifesh has ability to lead 8th District
The Daily Herald has endorsed Manju Goel, who registered as a Democrat in 2008 and 2012, in a Republican primary over Larry Kaifesh for the 8th Congressional seat to run against Tammy Duckworth. Since neither has held office before, here is some information about Larry Kaifesh.
Larry has deep roots in the 8th District, attending Dundee-Crown High School as a scholar athlete. He lettered in and captained the football, wrestling and track teams. In his senior year, he was an undefeated state wrestling champion earning all-American honors.
He holds a B.A. in psychology from Indiana University. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he went through Officer Candidate School and graduated with the rank of second lieutenant. He has a master's in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
Larry has spent a majority of the past 22 years serving our country in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantry officer. As a colonel in the U.S. Marine Reserve Corps, he has led Marines, sailors and coalition partners when he has been deployed five times in Iraq and Afghanistan. His military awards include the Bronze Star, Navy Commendation Medal with a "V" for Valor in Combat, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
Larry is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment and does not support amnesty of illegal immigrants. He has been endorsed by the Barrington, Schaumburg, Palatine, Wheeling, Addison and Hanover Republican organizations and the Indian-American Republican Organization of Illinois. His achievements, even as a teenager, show that he has the ability to lead and bring our country together.
Please vote for Republican Larry Kaifesh for U.S. Congress in the Illinois primary during early voting or on March 18.
