Boot camp recommendation after Elgin man's guilty plea

The last of three young men who Elgin police say tried to rob a pizza delivery man last April pleaded guilty to robbery on Wednesday.

Devyn Dodd, 18, was sentenced to four years in prison, with a recommendation for boot camp, records show. The judge also ordered Dodd pay $639 in fines.

Dodd, along with Datren Brown of Hickory Hills and Scott Hatfield of Elgin, phoned in a pizza order in April 2013, prosecutors said at the defendants' bond hearing last year. When the delivery man arrived, one of the defendants pointed a pellet gun at his chest and ordered him to turn over his money and pizza.

The defendants fled but were caught by police a short time later, prosecutors said.
