Schaumburg crash sends 8 to hospital

Eight people were taken to area hospitals after a multivehicle accident Friday night in Schaumburg.

Schaumburg firefighters said the crash took place around 7 p.m. at Schaumburg Road and Springinsguth Road.

Five vehicles, all headed east, were involved, according to the fire department.

Firefighters said the victims were taken to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village and St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates,

Two of the injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. The other injured people were taken for observation.

The intersection was shut down for 45 minutes. The crash remains under investigation
