Build Keystone through Canada

I just read the piece about how we need the Keystone pipeline. What I have read is that the jobs created is overstated and that the oil is for overseas, mainly China.

It will not help our price for gas because the price is set for the world markets and the gas goes to the highest bidder. There was a bill proposed that would not allow the oil to be exported and they would have to use American made pipe, but it was shot down by the House. So much for our interests.

I have also just read that the Canadian company is trying to use Eminent Domain to get title to the land it needs instead of dealing with the farmers. The only ones who will profit from the pipeline is the Canadian oil company, refineries and shippers of the product.

The Alaskan oil pipeline is in constant need of repair as the oil is very corrosive and wears out the pipe from the inside. That means there are always places that leak and spills that have to be cleaned. There was just an article in the paper about how much of the oil is on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico and killing what is there.

We were told by the powers that be that it was taken care of and the gulf would recover. I do not see the benefits to this pipeline for society, but I do see it for the companies involved. Let them build it through Canada.
