At the height of the recession Elgin chose to beautify the city with bricks closing off streets and impacting downtown parking.

Elgin is not St. Charles or Geneva and never will be. The demographics are entirely different.

With an aging population with mobility problems, there are no convenient accessible parking places to any stores.

The installation of 30 minute parking limits on the street precludes any long term business arrangements like lawyer, police, doctor, dining business. If it takes longer than 30 minutes, tough!

The interest in the Randall Road corridor sucks business from downtown. Even they are having occupancy problems.

There may be more that I am not aware of but this is enough for me. I only come downtown for my bank and the post office and nothing else.
