Barrington theater screening Oscar-nominated short films March 1

Barrington-area movie lovers will have insider access to two of the most compelling and hardest to see Oscar-nominated film categories — Best Animated Short Film and Best Live Action Short Film — on Saturday, March 1.

A screening of the five films from each category nominated for 2014 Academy Awards will run from noon to 4 p.m. at The Catlow Theater, 114 W. Main St. in downtown Barrington. Tickets are $10 each and available at the theater or Baloney’s Restaurant next door.

The animated films average less than 10 minutes each, while the live action films average 20 minutes each. As a courtesy to families with younger children, there will be a brief intermission between the animated and live action showings if they choose not to watch the later films.
