Mail delivery back to normal in Elk Grove
Mail service has been fully restored in Elk Grove Village after residents and business owners complained they weren’t getting their mail during portions of last week and the week before, officials said.
Mayor Craig Johnson said village offices received some two dozen phone calls reporting a lack of mail delivery, which lasted up to three consecutive days in some parts of town.
Village officials called the office of U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, who contacted the United States Postal Service to get the problem resolved, Johnson said.
He said post office officials attributed the service interruption to the bad winter weather, employee illnesses, and employees not able to get to work.
Johnson advised residents to call the offices of Duckworth and U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk if there are additional problems with mail service in the future.
