W. Aurora High selling ‘Believe’ CD to support music programs

Submitted by West Aurora Unit District 129

West Aurora High School is now selling the CD “Believe” that combines talents of the school’s top choir and band with county music recording artist Ricky Lee.

All proceeds from the sale of the $10 CD will be used to support the fine arts programs of West Aurora through the Christopher Patterson Memorial Foundation.

West’s A Cappella Choir and Wind Symphony are featured on the CD. The project was the idea of Lee, who heard the West High groups perform at the 2012 Veterans Assembly and returned last November to perform with them.

The foundation is named after Christopher Patterson, a 2009 West graduate and National Guard member, who was killed in action in 2012 in Afghanistan. Patterson had been active in music programs at West and was studying music at Valparaiso University before his death.

The CD can be purchased in person at the main office of the high school, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora. Another option is to contact Robert Patterson, Christopher’s father, at btcswret1997@gmail.com.
