Buffalo Grove Rotary holds pizza fundraiser

You don’t have to cook Tuesday, Jan. 28, thanks to the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove. At Pizza Fest from 5 to 8 p.m. at Buffalo Grove High School, admission is $2, each slice of pizza is $2 and any drink or dessert item is $1.

You will enjoy many varieties of America’s favorite food, thanks to participating local pizza establishments including Lou Malnati’s, Jets, Nino’s, Prairie House, Wa-Pa-Ghetti’s, Danny’s and Domino’s, who are helping Rotary in its mission.

Rotary will be collecting nonperishable food items to help stock the Wheeling Food Pantry and Kingswood Food Pantry, where demand for food by families in need has greatly increased.

Rotary is the world’s largest service organization whose members form a global network of business, professional, and community leaders volunteering their time and talents to serve their communities and the world. Rotary International is working to eradicate polio, end poverty, and promote world peace and cultural understanding.

Buffalo Grove Rotary supports many local charities and community initiatives including hunger relief, safety programs, Special Olympics, park improvements, school programs and student exchanges.

Its members have traveled to global service projects that include providing fresh water in Africa, immunization efforts to eradicate polio in India and development projects for schools in the Guatemalan jungle. Currently, a Rotary exchange student from Brazil attends Stevenson High School and a local Stevenson graduate is studying in Indonesia.
