How to apply for Bartlett historical plaque

If you own a Bartlett home, commercial, public, residential, or barn building which is at least 50 years old, you may be eligible for a Bartlett Historical Society plaque.

The Bartlett Historical Society is accepting nominations for its annual awarding of historical plaques. The plaques are purely honorary and place no obligations or restrictions on the owner or the property. The Historical Society pays all costs.

Honorees not only get their own special recognition in Bartlett history, but they receive a handcrafted plaque to place on their building. Plaques are awarded at a special ceremony during a village board meeting with a reception at the Bartlett village hall.

The Bartlett Historical Society selects a small number of sites to honor each year, but will keep all submitted nominations for future consideration. Structures will be evaluated on their architectural value or if a historically prominent person once lived there. Priority will be placed on the oldest structures, ones most faithful to the original structure, and ones maintained in good condition. Additions must be sympathetic to the original design. All buildings shall be recognized as characteristics of their own time.

For more information and a nomination form, please email carolbartletthissoc@comcast.net or call (630) 289-8592. Nominations are requested by Monday, Feb. 10.
