Streamwood police looking for missing elderly man

The Streamwood Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating an elderly resident, Rod J. Vondracek who was reported missing on Wednesday morning.

Vondracek's wife noticed he was missing at about 6 a.m. Wednesday morning and called police, according to a news release sent Thursday afternoon.

Family said it was very unusual for Vondracek, 80, to not return home. He is believed to be driving his 2009 light metallic green Toyota Camry with the license #594945, police said.

Vondracek was spotted on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. at Schaumburg, Toyota, 875 W. Golf Road, but left before police learned of his location, the release said.

Vondracek was receiving treatment for a medical condition at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, police said.

“His mental condition may be contributing to his failure to return home or notify his family of his whereabouts,” the release said.

He was last seen wearing a green and plaid thermal lined jacket and a navy blue knitted cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Streamwood Police Department at (630) 736-3700.
