Dandelion Gallery, an artist cooperative in Waukegan, hosts a benefit chili cook-off to fund art scholarships for Waukegan High School seniors on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: best taste, best presentation and most innovative ingredients. Chili chefs should bring three quarts of cooked chili in a crockpot. The entry fee for chefs is $30 and each chef will received a pottery spoon rest made by Michelle Miscenic-Patch, founder of Dandelion Gallery. Setup time is 3:45 p.m. The public is welcome to come and taste the variety of chili. For $5, one can taste all of them. For $10, the taster will also receive a custom handmade pottery bowl. The event will be at Dandelion Gallery, 109 S. Genesee St., Waukegan. For information, call (224) 627-6039.
