Gurnee police distribute money from Turkey Trot

Gurnee police announced Monday they have distributed proceeds from the 20th annual Jon Callaghan Memorial Turkey Trot. This year’s Thanksgiving Day 5k run and walk had about 745 registered participants, netting $16,850 for four local organizations. Beneficiaries are the Gurnee Community Church Youth Missions program, Gurnee Elementary District 56’s special needs program, Warren Township Food Pantry and University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital’s neuroblastoma research program. A portion of the proceeds also was given to a Gurnee family that has recently fallen on hard times due to an illness of a child who attends District 56 schools.
