Carol Stream man, convicted in 1982 murder, faces felony charges

A Carol Stream man convicted of murder in 1982 has been charged with two felonies for failing to register with authorities, concluding a four-month investigation by Carol Stream police.

Leamon E. Jordan, 57, of the 300 block of Wexford Court, was arrested Dec. 20, authorities said. He was charged with failure to register as a violent offender against youth and illegally coming within 500 feet of a child day care home.

Jordan was required to register as a violent offender against youth due to a 1982 conviction for kidnapping and murdering a child in Cook County, police said.

A Carol Stream detective initiated the investigation when be became aware of the possibility Jordan was living in the area without properly registering with authorities.

Carol Stream police executed a search warrant on Dec. 20 and seized evidence that Jordan was living at the Carol Stream address.

He was taken to the DuPage County jail.
