Cook County Sheriff's Police said Curtis had her grandmother's power of attorney between October 2005 to July 2011. During that time, authorities say Curtis wrote checks, made electronic payments and forged electronic wire transfers from her grandmother's financial accounts to pay for trips, apparel, restaurants, food, gas and car payments.

Sheriff's police indicated last year that Curtis stole more than $200,000 from the victim.
