Body found in search for missing Gurnee woman

Police are conducting a death investigation after finding a body during their search for a missing Gurnee woman who was last seen Monday afternoon.

Anne Stroll, 64, was last seen near her home by neighbors in the Merit Club subdivision off routes 21 and 120.

Police said she left a note indicating she was going for a bike ride but did not return. She was reported missing at 3:30 p.m. Monday by her husband, Michael.

According to a post on Michael Stroll’s Facebook page, a search was under way at Independence Grove Forest Preserve where police traced her cellphone. Police discovered a body in the area of the 32000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville at 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release sent Tuesday night.

According to police, Anne Stroll was known to ride her bike along the Des Plaines River Trail.

Police were not available to give updates on the case Tuesday night, but did say remains under investigation.
