Mount Prospect chamber begins second year of Young Entrepreneurs Academy

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is for students in grades seven-12 who demonstrate creativity and determination and show enthusiasm and interest in creating their own “real” businesses.

Students are guided through each step of starting an enterprise, from brainstorming the idea to pitching their business plan to a panel of investors … just like Shark Tank. Classroom learning is anchored by real-world applications, such as submitting DBAs to the county clerk’s office, opening bank accounts, filing tax returns, and earning real profits at a trade show.

YEA! graduates start as students, and leave the program as CEOs of their own companies.

The Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce is very excited to begin its second year with the Young Entrepreneurs Academy at Prospect High School and has expanded the program to include District 57 Lincoln Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade students.

The chamber is still currently accepting applications and nominations for the class of 2014, and encourages you to nominate Prospect High School and Lincoln Middle School students. Classes, beginning in January, will be held after school at Prospect High School.

Nomination forms and program applications are available online at www.mountprospectchamber.org. For information on YEA!, or for an application, call (847) 398-6616 or email info@mountprospectchamber.org.
