We’re hopping right over Thanksgiving

To those who remember celebrating Thanksgiving in November ...

As far as I can remember, this was the earliest ever to start preparing for Christmas!

Growing up in Chicago, my two brothers and I looked forward to traveling downtown on a bus with my dear Dad. We made the trip each year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, to see the unveiling of Field’s magical windows and the glorious tree in the Walnut Room.

But not this year.

Sorry to say, Macy’s chose the day after, or was it Saturday after, Halloween, completely skipping the holiday for being thankful, Thanksgiving!

Shame on you, Mr. Macy. Maybe I am too “traditional,” but these “special” holidays were more appreciated done in an orderly manner, as far as I am concerned.
