WingStop restaurant plus yogurt place coming to Palatine

Palatine will have a WingStop in the Park Place Fashion Center on Dundee Road east of Rand Road, the village board decided Monday without much comment.

Shayan Halani will also operate an adjacent frozen yogurt shop called Forever Yogurt, but that use does not require village approval, according to a memo from village staff members.

The 1,123 square-foot WingStop will have 26 seats and plans to be open 11 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.

Halani has also applied for a license to serve beer and wine at the restaurant, according to minutes of the village's Zoning Board of Appeals, which approved the restaurant unanimously. The village will deal with that request now that the restaurant has been approved.

Halani operates WingStop franchises in Niles and in Chicago but does not have licenses there.

Brent Larson, a member of the zoning board, said at the Oct. 22 hearing that he has visited the Niles restaurant and found it clean and well kept.

The Park Place shopping center currently has a Starbucks, Subway, Panda Express, Jimmy Johns and Sonic, according to papers filed with the application.

Christina Johnson. village planner, told the zoning board that staff recommended approval of the plan, and the new restaurants would be compatible with businesses in the center.

The shopping center has 1,549 parking spaces, so staff members said there is no problem with that. The business plan for the shop indicates 75 percent of its business is carryout with that same percentage occurring after 6 p.m.

WingStops are in Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle and St. Charles.
