Santa Claus is coming to both Woodfield Mall and the village of Schaumburg. The Conant High School drum line will herald his arrival at his "IcePalace" at Woodfield Mall at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. Santa will later take a break from his Woodfield visiting hours, arriving by fire truck for Schaumburg's annual tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, on the plaza between village hall and the Prairie Center for the Arts, 101 Schaumburg Court. The evening's activities will begin with the singing of holiday carols at 6 p.m. After the lighting ceremony, Santa will meet with youngsters in the Prairie Center's Maggie Atcher Theatre. Seasonal entertainment will be featured and refreshments served. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for the Schaumburg Food Pantry. Additionally, items will be accepted at village hall during business hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, until Jan. 3.
