Dist. 62 names new North Elementary assistant principal

Stephen Scarfe has been named the assistant principal of North Elementary School in Des Plaines School District 62. His appointment was unanimously approved Oct. 21 by the District 62 Board of Education. Scarfe assumes the assistant principal position immediately. He is filling a position at North that was created because of rapidly growing enrollment.

He previously served as the assistant principal at Guilford High School in Rockford, a position he held since 2011. He began his career in education as a Response to Intervention (RtI) teacher for grades 6-8 in Belvidere District 100. He also taught eighth grade math and language arts in Belvidere.

Scarfe earned a master's degree in educational administration from St. Xavier University, a master's degree in teaching from Rockford College, and a bachelor's degree in communications studies from Virginia Tech. He currently is enrolled in an educational leadership doctoral program at Concordia University.
