Get to know a Tea Party member

To Bill Reddy: Your despicable comments (Your Views, Oct. 7) comparing the Tea Party to Osama bin Laden simply tells me that you have very little knowledge of either one. And that is all the time I have to reply to such stupidity!

To Dave Crost: Let me tell you as has been revealed so may times before, the Taxed Enough Already Party stands for lower taxes, smaller government and a free-market economy as well as strict adherence to the Constitution. Now what in the world is wrong with that? Is this the bizarre vision quest that you mentioned in your letter (Oct. 5)? Tea Party members are common, everyday Americans who still believe in the greatness of our country and still hope for a return of that greatness and exceptionalism.

Tea Party members are not radical, extremist or a ridiculous clan of bomb throwers as you so kindly referred to them. How did you come up with that “bomb thrower” bit?

You should get to know some of these good people. They are fine Americans. I know because I am one of them.
