Police: Bartlett man misused committee's debit card

Bartlett police said Thursday that a man was arrested earlier in the week for using the Bartlett 4th of July committee's debit card to withdraw money without permission.
On Monday, police arrested Thomas M. Schiferl, 32, of 810 Bryn Mawr Ave. in Bartlett. He has been charged felony theft.
According to Bartlett police, between July 3 and Sept. 9, Schiferl used the committee's debit card to withdraw $4,475 from various ATM locations in Bartlett, St. Charles and South Elgin for his personal use.
The Bartlett 4th of July committee discovered the theft after an internal audit and immediately reported it to the Bartlett Police Department.
