Brainerd Building should be renovated

A voice from the Class of 1939 concerning the future of the former Libertyville Township High School, now known as the Brainerd Building: I submit my opinion and approval for renovation.

During my high school years, our family lived on a farm on Route 120, address RFD Grayslake, located in Avon Township with no high school available.

I had the choice of Gurnee, Waukegan or Libertyville, which I chose.

During my high school years, 1935-1939, the Brainerd Building had students from Lake Forest, Half Day, Wheeling and Mundelein, all non-high school districts at that time.

I had a special driver’s permit for driving only on school days between high school and home. You’re very likely to receive more comments on the future of our old high school then expected.

I feel the people of Libertyville will make the right decision — renovate.
