Let Detroit fix its own mess

A powerful team is descending upon Detroit to fix the bankruptcy problem. The team consists of four of President Obama’s top advisers: Gene Sperling, Attorney General Eric Holder, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan. They are converging in Detroit to determine ways the federal government can help the bankrupt city short of a bailout.

The team will meet with state and local leaders, other words with the people responsible, the ones that caused Detroit to go bankrupt. Detroit, once the envy of other cities, went bankrupt because of greed and inept politicians. Short of a bailout and a tax increase on the working people, the city cannot be made whole. If money is pumped into the city the money will be squander and Detroit will remain in bankruptcy.

Let the state and local leaders solve the problem. Who better than the people who created it in the first place? Perhaps they should invite the powerful unions; after all, they also had a hand in the downfall.
