ESO opening, Grams simply superb

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra’s new season began Oct. 5 and 6, with concerts featuring the music of George Gershwin and Gustav Mahler. These concerts marked the debut of Andrew Grams, the new music director of the ESO.

Oh, what a debut it was! Standing ovations for Grams and Terrence Wilson, piano soloist, reflected the musical appreciation of the audiences for superb performances by the conductor and soloist.

Never in my conducting and music education career have I witnessed a conductor with the sensitivity and passion for the musical score. One could sense that Grams brought the orchestra up to a performance level seldom experienced in the past. For a thrilling musical experience you need to attend one of the concerts with Director Grams leading the way.

Check out th ESO schedule for the rest of the 2013-2014 season. For one of the most exciting musical experiences of a lifetime contact the ESO for tickets. ESO is on the web at www.elginsymphony.org or call (847) 888-4000.
